Traction sheave elevator

Traction Rope

Elevator hoisting steel wire ropes are primarily used to connect the elevator car and counterweight. Winded around the traction sheave, they rely on friction to drive the elevator smoothly up and down, bearing the entire dynamic load and directly impacting passenger safety. An elevator typically has four or more wire ropes with a safety factor of at least 12, meaning that even if one wire rope breaks, the remaining ropes can still safely lift the car.

Governor Rope

The elevator speed governor steel wire rope does not bear weight but monitors the elevator's speed and triggers the safety brake in dangerous situations. When the elevator overspeeds or a hoisting wire rope breaks, the safety brake clamps the guide rails, forcibly stopping the elevator.

Compensating Rope

The elevator balance compensation steel wire rope is a crucial component connecting the car and counterweight, balancing the weight of the traction ropes and traveling cables. During elevator operation, the lengths of the hoisting wire ropes on both sides of the car and counterweight constantly change, resulting in uneven weight distribution. The balance compensation wire rope counteracts this change by creating dynamic weight compensation between the car and counterweight, maintaining the stability of the traction system. It ensures the safe and smooth operation of elevators, making it indispensable, especially in high-rise buildings.
