Wire rope cutters are tools specifically designed for cutting steel wire ropes or cables. Similar to wire cutters, they have a more specialized blade design to effectively prevent wire slippage.

High-quality wire rope cutters typically use forged chrome vanadium steel (CR-V) blades, which are high-frequency hardened to a hardness of 55-60 HRC, ensuring a sharp and impact-resistant cutting edge.

When selecting tools, confirm the type of material being cut (ordinary wire rope/galvanized wire rope), its outer diameter, and its structure (single strand/multi-strand strand). Never use ordinary stranded wire cutters to cut steel wire ropes, as insufficient tool strength may cause the blade to break. During operation, ensure the wire rope is fully embedded in the V-groove of the blade; do not cut at an angle or repeatedly cut the same spot.

After each use, clean any remaining wire debris from the blade. Check the hydraulic system oil quality monthly; replace the oil immediately if it becomes cloudy. For long-term storage, apply anti-rust grease to the blade and inject lubricant into the handle joints to maintain smooth operation. When the wear of the cutting edge exceeds 15% of the original size, professional re-grinding is required.
